For a while now, I’ve been a proponent of not getting an IPod due to Ipod’s lack of WMA support and limited features. I’ve been using Yahoo’s music service for my music downloads and I couldn’t get anything other than DRM’ed WMA’s so an IPod was out of the question for me which, in turn, made me come up with arguments against getting an Ipod. Started using Juice for my podcast catcher, Windows Media Player to sync it all together on my Creative Zen Micro, everything was segregated and a bit of a pain really.

Then, last month, my 2-year renewal came up for Yahoo and they wanted $120 some odd dollars for the next two years of service and there was no way I was going to pay that price for the service, it had been janky at best anyway. So I decided to try out allofmp3.com or more specifically, alltunes. to see how it worked and so far, it’s been good. No problems with the site, with the exception of the outage they had a few weeks ago but other than that, it’s been great.
So I started wondering, “I’d really like a device that would hold more storage, be able to play video podcasts (which I didn’t really download b/c I wasn’t watching them on my laptop), regular podcasts and have it all sync up in one software. So that’s when the Apple God’s started dropping thoughts into my head about upgraded to the Ipod Video. Well, to make a long story longer, it’s done. I was looking for one more ‘tech’ purchase before the baby arrives and I decided on a 30GB black Ipod Video. It’s been a great device so far, filled over 5GB’s on it and it hasn’t batted an eye. Loaded all my podcasts/video podcasts into ITunes and I’m working all out of one software package. I’m a happy man.
