So as I mentioned before, I am having Gastric Bypass surgery done on February 7th, 2007. I went in last week for a pre-op appt. to discuss what I needed to do up until the surgery and what to expect for the first few weeks after surgery. The meeting went fine and well and there were no curve balls really. The only thing that took me by surprise was that they told, nay threatened, me that I had to lose 15 pounds before the surgery or the doctor would reschedule for another week. There intentions are good, they just want the liver to be as un-fatty as possible but 15 pounds in two weeks is a bit crazy by anyone’s standards.
So they have me on a pure liquid diet for these two weeks, liquid protein shakes and I can’t exceed 1000 calories a day. A day!? Even fit people eat more than that!
I dropped 4 pounds after two days but I’m pretty sure that was water and have been keeping to it for the most part (had some salmon sashimi last weekend, but it is low calorie and real good for you, no soy sauce) but since then, I’ve been stuck on the same weight for almost 4-5 days now. Now I’m getting all stressed out and wondering if they are just trying to scare me (it’s working) or if its legit and will canceled me. I don’t have a follow-up with the doctor or anything so if they canceled it, it would be on the surgery morning.
I didn’t even get into that I have a buddies rehearsal dinner and wedding this weekend…oh, and that little event called THE SUPERBOWL!!!
I just keep telling myself its a means to an end, right?

This sounds like quite a decision. I hope you’re doing well now.

I followed a stricter diet than required because I had gained weight 2 months before, so with 2 weeks left, I dropped 27 lb in 8 days, right in time for OFFICIAL weigh in…that was close.
