Idea Factory | Premium Support for Web Apps

July 4, 2007

Generic call center chickThought it was time for me to post another installment of ‘Idea Factory’ and share with you all an idea I came up with the other day. Since I keep an eye on Internet technologies and all the latest/greatest web app’s that come out I got to noticing that most of these applications support their customers normally by email or maybe forums. Which, for them, is probably adequate because I’m sure they have plenty to do with trying to keep up with their agile development ways and can’t spend tons of time on the phone or training their customers.

I don’t know if it was my 7 years in the call center industry but it made me think, “Well, why doesn’t someone offer that support for them?”

Why not come an expert with a handful of the most popular web applications out and offer ‘premium-level’ support for any clients that signs up for the service? Better yet, if you could get with the application maker and create a partnership so that they would offer your services for you, how great is that for both businesses?

You could offer phone, remote desktop support, training or even on-site support even for their clients. I know some people that would be willing to pay for that service as more less web-savvy people get involved in these programs. I would probably choose a subscription model for service and try to keep it cheaper than the monthly subscription costs of the web app they’re using.

I told myself long ago that I wouldn’t go back to the call center industry but I could definitely see that business working.
